I was invited, along with other 15 designers, by TREVIGLIO CULTURA
to design a poster on the occasion of the centenary of Kafka's death.
The posters will be displayed on the streets of Treviglio in Italy.
The project, curated by Dario Carta, is promoted by the Municipality of Treviglio with the support of Fedrigoni, Monti Edizioni and under the patronage of AIAP.
The premise for realising this poster was not to represent the figure of the insect in an obvious way.
The extract selected from Kafka's book narrates Gregor's intention to open the door. This is how the insect Gregor in the poster transforms into a kind of Gregor-key.
The doors represent the only three ways for Gregor to interact with the other three main characters.
The predominant dark colours in the poster are also intended to represent the nocturnal and claustrophobic aspect predominant in Kafka's book.
